Why need to change product name during export if ship chemicals?

In China, every chemical (powder or liquid) export by commercial express needs to have "Certification for safe Transport of Chemical Goods" which is issued by Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry. The procedure is that the supplier provides them 50 grams samples first and they do some safety test and issue a Certification for safe Transport of Chemical Goods. It takes 7-10 days to complete and $100 per test. The Certification can be used during the day you get it to the end of year. Next year you have to do the test again. The problem is that we have too many products and some are very expensive and cannot even offer that amount to have a test every year. The same situation occurs for other expensive chemicals and bio-reagents.

To solve this problem, commercial express like FedEx/DHL/TNT shipping agent will use another Certification for Safe Transport of Chemical Goods(different product with similar appearance which can provide 50g samples and can get certificate) to export. That means they will change the product name to export. Actually the product in the shipment is what you ordered.

During this process, commercial express like FedEx/DHL/TNT shipping agent will check the appearance and match a "Certification for Safe Transport of Chemical Goods" with the shipment. We normally packed chemicals in transparent bags or bottles so they can see the appearance directly and needn't to open it. We can not label any actual description on the package. We can only label the item number, quantity and lot number. We will send you all the actual documents via email.

Most of time, commercial express will do the import and you can get the products directly in your place.
Very few times, you may need to assist for the customs clearance with the documents which we can prepare for you. You only need to forward them to the express agent.
